LIEM Hospice recently had the privilege of honoring Don Tubbs with a special Veteran pinning and certificate ceremony. Joining us for this meaningful occasion was fellow Navy Veteran Monty Montgomery, who helped recognize Don’s service and celebrate his life story.

Don served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War era. While he was not in combat, his years of service are a valued and important part of the life he has lived and the legacy he has created. After leaving the Navy, Don began a successful career in the aeronautical industry. He worked at Librascope in Glendale, where he became an engineer. In 1969, he married his wife, Pat, and together they built a loving blended family with four children.
Don’s life has also been shaped by his deep passion for cars, especially building hot rods. He and Pat were instrumental in starting the Montrose Car Show 25 years ago, leaving a lasting mark on their community through an event that continues to bring people together.
The ceremony was especially touching for Pat, whose heart was deeply moved by the recognition given to her husband. Don’s reaction made the moment even more special — with a warm smile, he kept asking, “Is this for me?”
At LIEM Hospice, it is our honor to recognize the service, achievements, and personal stories of the veterans in our care. We are grateful to Don for his service to our country, for the life he built with Pat and their family, and for the many ways he has contributed to his community.
